Group Walk - Abbey Park riverside walk via Belgrave Hall
Saturday 31 January at 11.30am
Starting in Abbey Park, outside the cafe.
Around 90 minutes, steady pace.
Optional cafe stop afterwards (allow extra time).
At nearly 3 miles, this is one of our longer walks.

Step out with us for a pleasant winter warmer walk along the scenic River Soar. We pass familiar landmarks including the National Space Centre, Abbey Pumping Station and Belgrave Hall before returning to beautiful Abbey Park via combination of residential and riverside paths. We may pause for a little light information along the way, but we will mostly keep moving on this walk. Booking opens 1 January 2025.
Please note – if need be, we may lead a variation of this route to avoid the areas prone to flooding.
Booking
This short walk is free to attend, but numbers are limited. Please book via Eventbrite to secure your place when booking has opened.
Walk information: phone 0116 454 2860. Please note our phone line is usually answered Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, but the line will be closed over the festive period from 18 December 2025 and will reopen on 5 January 2026.
If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel via Eventbrite or contact us by phone (during office hours)so we can allow others the opportunity to attend.
New Walkers
If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form. You will receive information about how to do so by email in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).
Dress for the weather
Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:
- Comfortable sturdy footwear
- Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
- On cooler days wear appropriate warm layers (hat, scarf, gloves) and a coat/jacket
- It's advisable to bring a bottle of water with you.
Group size
We kindly ask walkers to book a place, to help us keep our group sizes manageable.
