About this Event
Join us for a small, relaxed group critique session in the gallery space at Islington Mill, celebrating the 1838 Collective exhibition Echo.
This free event is exclusively for Islington Mill studio holders, with limited tickets to keep the session intimate and welcoming. Participants are invited to share their work and receive feedback from fellow artists, or simply join the discussion and offer their perspectives.
Designed as a friendly and inclusive space, the crit encourages open, informal conversation and creative exchange among artists and creatives at the mill. The session will be hosted by Rebecca Garrard, Co-Director of 1838 Collective, providing a supportive environment for artists and creatives to connect and reflect on their practice.
About 1838 Collective
1838 Collective is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to supporting emerging and graduate artists. Founded by alumni of Manchester School of Art, the collective was established in response to the challenges artists face when transitioning from education into professional practice.
Blake, Aliya, Rebecca, Yasaman, Oriana, and Masi are the team behind 1838 Collective. Connected through their postgraduate studies in Fine Art and Painting, their practices span painting, printmaking, drawing, weaving, and textile art, reflecting a range of perspectives and backgrounds across England, Iran, Cyprus, and Spain.
Together, they organise exhibitions, workshops, and regular events that provide platforms for artistic development, building connection, peer support, and professional growth for emerging artists across Greater Manchester.
