April Theme: Arm Balance Exploration
In April, as the energy of spring continues to rise, we’ll begin to explore arm balances — playful yet powerful postures that build strength, focus, and lightness.
Arm balances can sometimes look intimidating, but in this workshop we’ll approach them gradually and intelligently, focusing first on the foundations that make these poses possible.
Rather than forcing ourselves into difficult shapes, we’ll build the necessary elements step by step — grounding through the legs and core, mobilising the hips, and learning how to shift weight with stability and control.
Through this approach, arm balances become less about force and more about coordination, curiosity, and exploration.
This workshop is suitable both for practitioners who are curious about arm balances and those who would like to deepen their understanding of them.
What We’ll Explore
In this session Laura will guide you through preparations and variations for arm balances such as:
• Crow Pose (Bakasana)
• Bhuja Pidasana
• Tittibhasana (Firefly Pose)
These poses require strength, balance, and awareness — but the practice will include accessible progressions and alternative options for those who are newer to arm balances.
You’ll learn how to:
• build the strength needed to lift safely
• understand the mechanics of weight-shifting
• prepare the hips and core effectively
• explore arm balances with curiosity rather than pressure
Workshop Structure (2 hours)
🧘 1 hour Ashtanga-based practice
A steady, breath-led sequence to warm the body and prepare the shoulders, hips, and core for arm balance exploration.
Laura’s precise and intuitive adjustments help refine alignment and support safe progression.
🌬 1 hour Meditation & Breathwork
Simple techniques to calm the nervous system and integrate the physical practice.
This portion allows the body to settle after the strength work, bringing clarity and spaciousness to the mind.
👥 Small supportive group setting
The atmosphere remains intimate and attentive, allowing space for personalised guidance and hands-on support.
Why this practice works
When the body is prepared with grounding and strength, the exploration of more demanding postures becomes safer and more enjoyable.
Moving from dynamic practice into breathwork and meditation helps integrate effort with ease — leaving you feeling both energised and centred.
