Georgia M. Reash will sharing readings from her new book, I Want Good Sex: Reclaiming Your Sensuality After Living With Abuse, Assault or Stupid Meanies. Open Mic is available for those who want to share their poetry or other empowering literature.
Some questions that will be lightly discussed:
What is trauma and how does it influence our lives?
What is sensuality and why does it matter?
We all experience trauma, or we have. Trauma sits inside of our bodies until it has a chance to be released. Mentally, physically, sexually and emotionally -- trauma can be experienced. This includes not only how other people's actions impact us - but the actions of the broader world.
Support in HEALING TRAUMA is often realized through creative experiences, including poetry reading -- AND the integration of fun music.
While the feature reader will be speaking about her own personal trauma experiences from childhood and adulthood, we will be also be talking about trauma of the "every day" type - including the challenges we are facing as a nation, the feelings being brought up from great change, and the trauma of not feeling heard.
A GENTLE LOOK AT TRAUMA
As a trauma-informed poetry experience, complete with creative experiential sharing, attendees will gain personal insight that enables them to begin their sensuality journey. Although a variety of "power of overcoming" spoken word readings will be shared, we will also have FUN - with the inclusion of FUNKY GROOVY music (Georgia's own style of affirming inner strength).
Through the emphasis is reconnecting participants to their authentic self within and remembering their natural existing bliss - the course also offers a space for shared sisterhood, creativity and compassionate presence.
A JOYFUL LOOK AT SENSUALITY
Sensuality is a life force and the creative arts activate that life force energy. We will spend some discussion and poetry sharing around activating sensuality energy.
