About this Event
Grieving & Healing Gathering
The Grieving & Healing Gathering is a collaborative, community-rooted space centered on collective care, cultural healing, and community voice.
Join us for a day of collective care and cultural healing at the Grieving & Healing Gathering. Experience four transformative workshops led by community healers: African Drumming with Gregory Hodge to channel grief into rhythm and joy; Storytelling for Healing with Michelle “Mush” Lee to reclaim your voice through narrative; Grief & Emotional Healing with Briana Moore, MSW, grounded in trauma-informed practices; and Ecotherapy & Social Justice with J. Phoenix Smith to reconnect with nature and resilience. Throughout the day, immerse yourself in an interactive herbal session featuring smoke bundles and plant-based rituals for grief release, restore balance with a gentle Tai Chi movement practice during lunch, and close with a calming Tea Ceremony led by our herbalist. This gathering is designed to honor grief, celebrate resilience, and nurture community well-being.
We aim to honor grief, celebrate resilience, and co-create pathways to wellness for all—reflecting the vibrant diversity of Alameda County.
