About this Event
Grass Roots is a monthly live music event which is fully dedicated to supporting young and emerging London-based jazz artists. It takes place at The CLF Art Lounge's Pop Up space in Peckham, South London on the first Thursday of the month.
For the month of July, we're particularly pleased to present an East London-based jazz vocalist named Taylor Mitchell. Taylor is currently honing her craft while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Inspired by artists such as Nancy Wilson, Cécile McLorin Salvant and Minnie Riperton, she blends her jazz roots with soulful contemporary storytelling.
Taylor has performed at the Jazz Social as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. She has also featured at various reputable London venues including the Vortex Jazz Club, PizzaExpress Soho, The Camden Club and Spice Of Life in Soho. With an intimate vocal style and developing original material, she's establishing herself as an emerging voice on the London jazz scene.
Leading her own quartet, Taylor brings together a dynamic group of musicians exploring jazz standards, soulful interpretations and original music with warmth, spontaneity and emotional depth.
You'll find the venue inside Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (or Mountview for short) on the ground floor and next to the main entrance. It is also behind Peckham Library and a 10-minute walk from Peckham Rye station.
Doors open at 8pm and the live music starts at 9pm.
