About this Event
This is a series of workshops and events bringing Graphic Designers together offline. Created in response to a shifting industry that’s becoming more automated, templated and prompted. This project exists to slow things down and reconnect with the craft of design. Whether you’ve been working as a Designer for many years, you’re just getting started, or you’re simply curious, this is a space for you. This is not a networking event. It is a space to nourish your creativity, feel good and rediscover the joy of creating without pressure.
Manchester Event 1 introduces you to the fundamentals of type design. This session focuses on understanding how letterforms are built, and how small decisions can shape an entire visual style. You won’t be creating a full typeface. Instead, you’ll explore the early stages of type design through sketching, experimenting, and developing your own letter ideas by hand. A specialist will guide you through how to approach letter characteristics, structure, and form in a simple and accessible way. The focus is on process and exploring how type can be shaped through hands-on making.
All materials are provided, so there is nothing you need to prepare or bring with you. Just come as you are, ready to explore and experiment.
The event will take place in City Centre, Manchester. The exact address will be shared in your confirmation email (check the very bottom) once you secure your spot. Also check your junk mail.
