Pull up to this hands-on Graffiti workshop in Columbia Heights, Washington, DC where you’ll learn the foundations of graffiti art, history of DC street art, and an introduction to using an aerosol can to paint on our practice wall.
What You’ll Do
- Explore The Lab: Walk up one flight of stairs to the learning labs.
- Learn the origin: Hear the history of graffiti, from its early days to today.
- Create Your Own Art: Create your own name-based artwork on paper.
- Practice On The Wall: Bring your creation to life on our 50-foot practice wall.

The entire experience will be about two hours long
FOR ADULTS ONLY
Guests of all ages can attend
up to 10 guests per class
No outside alcohol or controlled substances are allowed.
This is a group activity, not a private lesson. Be prepared to interact with other aspiring artists and hip-hop enthusiasts as you work with our instructor.

Words Beats & Life is a fantastic organization with a fantastic missions. I'd recommend checking out any or all of their classes and activities. The graffiti class takes you from zero to painting your "name" on a wall in less than two hours. Along the way you learn a great deal about the history of both hip-hop and DC. Asad, who instructed the class, is a knowledgeable and wonderful teacher, who easily accomodates a range of skill levels. Highly recommended! Five stars! - Heather
