Walking Tour — The City of Grand Rapids Environmental Services Department operates the Water Resource Recovery Facility - more commonly called the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The facility collects and treats an average of 40 million gallons of wastewater a day. They also oversee stormwater management, green infrastructure, and air quality in the City. Members will learn more about this facility that is so crucial to the quality of life in Grand Rapids. Since a large portion of this tour is outside, please dress for the weather and for walking through the plant.
There is parking in front of the Administration Building. Check in at the window upon arrival.
***** Please note: The GRHS has TWO free programs on April 9, 2026 - an onsite walking tour of the Water Resource Recovery Facility at 1:00 PM, and a seated program about the 1956 Tornado at the Grand Rapids Public Library at 7:00 PM. *****
