Title: Good Morning Rolls : Scotland’s Forgotten Cultural Icon
Speaker: Peter Gilchrist, Scottish Food Historian
Scotland has had the morning roll for at least 300 years longer than Paris has had the baguette, so why don’t we celebrate our rolls for the gastronomic hero that they are? Join Scottish Food Historian, Peter Gilchrist, for a journey through the history of our morning rolls, from the 16th century reidy baps to the 21st century grease-stained paper bag. Once we understand that the act of placing a morning roll order, is as important as clans, tartans and ceilidhs, we can begin to celebrate our food history in a meaningful way.
