About:

Mathilde Marsot is a bilingual (English/French) songwriter from San Francisco, California and Montreal, Quebec. She now resides in Chicago, Illinois, developing her debut EP, The Garden. With themes of death, grief, and metamorphosis, her songs critique the absurdity of polite society and the mundane. Her style ranges from soft grunge, to folk, some songs incorporating jazz and country influences. The Garden, a six song EP, is produced with noises from insects incorporated into each title, and finds inspiration in Greek myths, the works of Franz Kafka, and Jacques Brel. Her foundation includes classical and operatic vocal instruction from École de Musique Vincent D’Indy in Montréal, Canada, and Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in San Francisco, California, as well as a Bachelor’s of Art in music from Columbia College Chicago. This Golden Hour will showcase the debut performance of her first EP, The Garden.
