If you’ve been eager to be a part of the Mah Jongg madness, here’s your chance. During this welcoming, five-class series with Santa Barbara Mah Jongg instructors Cynthia McClelland and Sandra Walther, you’ll learn the fundamentals of American-style Mah Jongg. In less than two weeks, you’ll be playing with confidence.
The series is designed with a building-block approach; each session introduces new skills and builds your confidence.
What to expect:
- DAY 1, WED JAN 21 | FOUNDATIONS: Meet the tiles, the suits, the card, and the rhythm of the game
- DAY 2, FRI JAN 23 LEARN THE CARD: Patterns, groupings, joker basics, and starting strategy
- DAY 3, TUE JAN 27 | THE CHARLESTON: Step-by-step passing, decision-making, and tile assessment
- DAY 4, WED JAN 28 | GAME PLAY: Picking, discarding, calling, exposures, and practicing full rounds
- DAY 5, FRI JAN 30 | PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER: Guided play, review, Q&A, and confidence-building tips
