About this Event

We are delighted that Lizzie Benton, Liberty Mind is back to lead this sesssion.
Most founders don’t start a business to manage people, put out fires, or spend their days drowning in decisions. Yet somewhere along the journey, many find themselves stuck in the Founder Trap—becoming the bottleneck, carrying the mental load of every choice, and burning out while trying to hold it all together.
This session shows you a different way.
You’ll learn how to decentralise your operations, distribute real ownership, and build a team that makes smart decisions without everything coming back to you. You’ll discover the principles of autonomy, self-management, and values-driven leadership—and how to apply them immediately to create more clarity, accountability, and flow across your organisation.
This is not jsut about “letting go.” It’s about creating the structures that make letting go possible.
By the end, you will understand how to:
Break the patterns that keep you overloaded and overwhelmed
Create a culture where people step up, not wait to be told
Design clear roles, responsibilities, and decision pathways
Reduce dependency on you without losing your values or vision
Build a business that grows sustainably—and gives you your time, energy, and headspace back
If you want to lead with more freedom, trust, and ease—while building a team that thrives without you at the centre—this session will show you how to set yourself, and your people, free.

Lizzie Benton is the Founder of Liberty Mind, an entity that supports founders and their teams in adopting new ways of working. Since discovering self-management in 2017 through Frederic Laloux's Reinventing Organisations, Lizzie has dedicated her career and personal growth to exploring more nuanced ways of working that truly make an impact on people and planet. Being a curious explorer of progressive organisational models, Lizzie is a Certified Sociocracy Facilitator, as well as a Holacracy Practitioner, TuffLeadership Practitioner, and Certified Semco Style Expert. Lizzie is inquisitive and open to completely different types of structures and systems, and the approach she takes is correspondingly open and organic.
Lizzie has worked across multiple sectors — including advertising, marketing, technology, construction, charities, and non-profits — helping teams and leaders evolve how they work together. Beyond her professional work, Lizzie has a deep love of learning and personal growth. She’s an avid reader with a passion for self-development and is often found exploring ideas and wandering down research rabbit holes. When she’s not reading, you’ll likely find her on long walks in the countryside or practising yoga — both of which keep her grounded, reflective, and connected to what matters most.
