Go for Launch: Astronauts, authors and Scotland’s launch pioneers

Get ready for blast off at this awesome in-person event! Hear stories and adventures from Astronauts and Space Authors. Plus, engage first hand with the home grown pioneers that are defining the country's launch ambitions!

Join us at this unique evening, bringing together the people at the forefront of Scotland’s future in space and how space technology shapes life on Earth.



The Voices

An Astronaut, a rocket company, a space port company and an author walk into a buisiness school...

It may sound like the start of a joke, but for one night only, Space Network are bring these and more all together, into one room, to talk about Scotland launch ambitions and launch the latest book about space!

Speaking on the evening will be:
David Mackay - Scotland’s first astronaut and Chief Test Pilot for Virgin Galactic
Ross Hamilton - Author of 'Everything Is Flying', and Chief Operating Officer at Space Network

Joining our panel session will be:

Skyrora - UK launch vehicle provider
Hyimpulse - Hybrid propulsion launch company
Saxavord Spaceport - UK’s first vertical launch spaceport

Moderated by the one and only Yvette Hopkins - Board Chair of Craft Prospect

The evening will be hosted by Andy Campbell, Founder and CEO of Space Network

Info: Welcome and opening remarks from our Venue Host - the Adam Smith Buisiness School at the University of Glasgow Host. This will be followed by our Event Host, Andy Campbell, Founder and CEO of Space Network who will provide a brief introduction to the Space sector, and the Scottish ecosystem.

Host: David Mackay, Astronaut & Pilot

Info: Hear from Scotland's first Astronaut David Mackay - Chief Test Pilot of Virgin Galactic, commercial astronaut and former RAF test pilot. David studied Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow and learned to fly with the University Air Squadron. He became Virgin Galactic’s Chief Test Pilot in 2005, and Chief Pilot in 2011. He has flown to space three times and led the Flight Operations teams in an historic run of successful spaceflights. David also wrote the foreword for the book 'Everything Is Flying'.
