For the past three years, I have been investigating the use of field recording across electronic music composition, sound studies, and collaborative creative practices, resulting in a constellation of works and actions that reflect the diversity of approaches and theories within this discipline. In particular, I have been researching how different levels of prior knowledge and proximity to sounds, places, and cultural contexts affect my practice: my ways of accessing places, recording sounds, thinking, using technologies, and composing.
In this concert, I will present four works: two from my series “Anecdotes” and two from my collaboration with the trio totaleee (Giuseppe Pisano-Riise, Paolo Montella, Andrea Laudante).
Pieces from the series Anecdotes feature field recordings from specific times and spaces that serve as the foundation for autoethnographic investigations. The recording and composition processes prompted reflections that redefined my relationship to the environment. These pieces are intended as diptychs, with the piece and the accompanying essay completing one another.
Totaleee explores acousmatic composition as a collective activity and investigates various aesthetic approaches to immersive audio through shared practices. This collaboration was useful for my project, generating local interest in spatial audio and creating the conditions to showcase spatial audio works in Napoli.
In addition to the concert, the self-built portable loudspeaker system VOLTA will be installed to showcase immersive audio pieces.
