GIRLS! THE TECH COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU! THIS EVENT IS ORGANISED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU! COME AND JOIN US AND GET INVOLVED!
I am delighted to invite you to our IN-PERSON "Girls Into Coding " event! It's a free event. Choose 1 of 4 exciting workshops. There will also be lightning talks to inspire & encourage girls aged 11 -14 to get involved in tech. Each participant can only book one workshop because they will run simultaneously.
You will be able to explore coding activities, coding, robotics, electronics, and physical computing using the Raspberry Pi, and the Micro: bit. This is a fantastic opportunity to use Python, Micropython (text-based language), and Microsoft Makecode while getting some hands-on making time.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTION READ CAREFULLY:
If you book more than one ticket per participant, your booking will be automatically cancelled.
Please note that, as this is a small collaborative event it may be necessary to move one of your daughters to a different workshop to balance out the number of participants in each workshop.
Please do not register your daughter for a workshop she has already participated in or your ticket will be automatically cancelled.
WORKSHOPS:
Workshop #1: Recycling Plant! (For Ages 12-14)
In this workshop you’ll build, code and run a mini recycling plant that can separate waste using a conveyor belt, fans, magnets and shakers. You’ll get to build it, wire it up and write the code, before racing the others to see who can separate their waste the fastest!
Workshop #2: Autonomous car using Ai (age 12-14)
You may have heard a lot about self-driving cars recently. But how can you make a car drive itself? The answer is Artificial Intelligence or AI. In this workshop, construct a model car and then teach it to drive on a road using machine learning.
The girls must be between 12 and 14 to attend this workshop
Workshop #3: Build a hand-held camera. (For Ages 11-14)
We'll put together a Raspberry Pi, mini-screen, and a few buttons. Add a camera module. We'll program your camera to take pictures and review images. Add enhanced features, like time-lapse!
Workshop #4: Physical Computing with Circuit Playground Express (age 10-14)
Use capacitive touch to make music with the Circuit Playground Express and a DIY cardboard keyboard, and code musical tones onto the board using Adafruit Makecode.
Experience: Beginners are welcome!
