GIRL, SHOW ME THAT BODY (OF WORK): FLINTA* LITERATURE NIGHT #1 "Girl, Show Me That Body (of Work)" is a literary and performance event series centering FLINTA* authors with migration backgrounds in Berlin. It promotes inclusion and diversity in literature, making marginalized voices visible. Through readings, literary performances, and discussions at Lettrétage, the project fosters dialogue on identity, migration, and gender equality. In collaboration with organizations reaching underrepresented communities, it uses literature as a tool for sociopolitical activism, cultural exchange, and community engagement with new audiences.
This is the first in this year's four-event series bringing together migrant authors working in Berlin and internationally across literature, film, conceptual art, and FLINTA* activism to explore intersectional contemporary feminist literature and sexual politics. Through powerful narratives and thought-provoking discussions, the event explores critical questions about identity and safety within the female body: What happens when our agency is taken away? How do communities, including families, respond to the loss of our sexual identity? How do we reconnect with our bodies after sexual violence, and how is our sexuality challenged or healed?
Featuring authors who confront violence against womxn and the reintegration of womxn who have fled femicide and war, this event also examines the experience of being a womxn alone in a foreign country, questions of sexual politics, and the pursuit of living safely, freely, and fully as a womxn. By amplifying these voices, the event aims to foster connections with womxn and non-binary people supported by Berlin aid organizations, creating a space for dialogue, solidarity, and healing.
Join us for an evening of powerful storytelling, critical reflection, and community building!
FLINTA* Literatur is an initiative dedicated to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equitable participation in literature and culture. By centering the voices of FLINTA* authors—women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender individuals—with migration backgrounds and embodied disadvantages, FLINTA Literatur challenges societal narratives and fosters social cohesion through storytelling.
Our projects amplify marginalized voices often excluded from public discourse, using literature as a powerful tool for sociopolitical activism, cultural exchange, and community engagement. We create safe spaces for dialogue on identity, migration, gender equality, and lived experiences of discrimination and resilience.
"Girl, Show Me That Body (of Work)", founded in 2024 by Ioana Cristina Casapu, is the flagship program of FLINTA* Literatur. It is a literary and performance series centering FLINTA* authors with migration backgrounds in Berlin. By showcasing readings, literary performances, and discussions at Lettrétage, the program amplifies marginalized voices and fosters dialogue on identity, migration, and gender equality.
The series creates inclusive spaces for artistic expression and community engagement, challenging societal norms and celebrating diverse narratives. It leverages literature as a medium for sociopolitical activism, cultural exchange, and audience participation, building connections across different societal groups.
"Girl, Show Me That Body (of Work) is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion in 2025."
