Have you #gottogetout and explore Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland?
Got To Get Out is hosting a series of free outdoor events to encourage our community to try walking & cycling for getting to work / school / leisure.
GTGO is welcoming a new intern all the way from the USA, Come join us as we show her the best spots in our beautiful city!
Are you ready for this ride?
For our bike ride events, these are aimed at people newer to riding in the area, and riding at a 'silver' level.
If you have not ridden a bike for a long time or lack confidence we would recommend attending one of Auckland Transport's Bike skills courses or at least reviewing the silver standard to check you are ‘ready’ for a group road ride at https://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/courses-events/adult-bike-skills/
*If you are unsure if you are competent enough to attend, please contact [email protected]*
About your free guided activity:
This activity starts at 3:00 please be there at 2:45 to set up and hear the saftey plan given by the host Robert
*Note - It is optional to take the ferry from downtown. Yet, the meeting point will be ferry building, Hobsonville Pt, with or without taking a ferry*
Take a look at everything on offer here https://hobsonvillepoint.co.nz/visit/the-coastal-walkway/ and here https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/parks-recreation/get-outdoors/aklpaths/Pages/path-detail.aspx?ItemId=72
Expect great korero / chats with other outdoor lovers / lovely cafes, and a chance to make new friends, and get some fitness!
To get there:
Use the AT Journey Planner (https://at.govt.nz/bus-train-ferry/journey-planner/) or AT Mobile app to plan your journey, preferably meeting us at the CBD ferry building (to join us on the ferry)
Please bring:
-Your own bike (expect a quick bike safety check over from your trip host)
-Comfortable enclosed footwear
-Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, skin protection)
-Raincoat / something warm in a backpack
-Any personal Medic*tion (like asthma inhaler etc)
-Food for you - although for this ride, we will stop at Little Creatures Bar for food
All ages welcome (under 16 need to be ‘signed in’ by a parent or guardian)
Please note the group moves at a ‘commuter’ speed, so this is not suited to beginner riders (who are not confident already riding a bike) or children learning to ride.
Health and safety:
You will be expected to ‘sign in’ at www.gottogetout.com/check-in before joining the walk
