About this Event
Join Disarm Education and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign for the launch of Disarm Education’s Workplace Organising Guide, a campaign to get arms companies out of our schools.
Over the past 25 months, the UK government has shown unwavering support for the weapons manufacturing industry and has been complicit in an active genocide by continuing to supply arms to Israel. Beyond Palestine, UK-made military equipment, including armoured vehicles and small weapons targeting devices, is being used in conflict zones such as Sudan, exported via the UAE. The UK exports £9.5 billion worth of weapons each year, fuelling destruction, human rights abuses, and mass suffering around the world.
The same arms companies driving global violence are also entering our schools, recruiting young people and attempting to launder their blood soaked reputations.
To expose this, we submitted Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to more than 16,000 schools and colleges across the UK. The first half of the event will feature a panel discussion co-led by PSC and Disarm Education, presenting key findings from the initial data returns and exploring the extent of arms industry involvement in education.
The second half will be a practical workshop on how to take this campaign forward in your districts and workplaces. You’ll leave with a copy of our Organising Guide and the tools to build the campaign in your workplaces and community.
Dinner will be provided!
