Get A Round In brings together the best singer-songwriters for a Nashville style writers’ round.
This regular event at The Met features three artists sharing the stage to showcase their songwriting talent and tell the stories behind their music.
March’s event features…
Macharia
Macharia is a Kenyan singer-songwriter and storyteller based in Manchester, creating cross-cultural music rooted in Kenyan folk influences and contemporary songwriting. Singing in both Swahili and English, her work blends rich vocal textures with intimate, reflective storytelling that invites audiences into moments of healing, connection, and self-discovery.
Amy Jo
Imagine if Elle Woods made country/pop music… that’s how Amy Jo blends her two loves, academia and music. Since graduating from The Open University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Amy Jo has performed at some prestigious venues, including New Century Hall, Weymouth Pavilion, Band on the Wall, Edinburgh Corn Exchange, and The Cluny. Some notable achievements include performing alongside Brit-award winner, Raye, to an audience comprised of legendary songwriters, such as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black, winning the ‘Best Newcomer’ Award with Songs Behind The Music, gaining over 180,000 streams on her debut EP ‘Songs From The Bay’, performing her debut at The British Country Music Festival and supporting Kylie Morgan at Bush Hall.
In recent months, Amy Jo has opened for the accredited Luke Combs UK Tribute, playing the iconic Barrowlands, been featured on ITV Granada with host Elaine Wilcox, and won the audience vote to play London’s 02 Indigo as part of the Keep it Country Festival.
Currently in the process of recording her debut album, Amy Jo describes her music as relatable, conversational, honest and grounded, with more than a splash of whimsy.
Ben P Williams
The evening will be presented by Manchester based singer-songwriter Ben P Williams, whose songs have seen support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing. Moulding the classic song-writing sound of Paul Simon with the laid-back nature of Jack Johnson, Ben draws inspiration from the greats while injecting his own wit and imagination into lyrics and melodies which can’t help but bring a smile to your face.
