About this Event
Join us at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow for a Christmas screening of the 2002 film adaptation of Erich Kästner’s timeless novel Das fliegende Klassenzimmer.
Jonathan is only twelve, but he has already gone through six boarding schools. Now he is given one last chance at the prestigious boarding school of the Thomaner – home to the world-famous Leipzig Boys’ Choir. As he makes friends with his roommates, they take him to their secret meeting place: an abandoned train car. There they encounter a mysterious stranger who knows more about the choir’s history than anyone suspects.
As the choir prepares for a televised performance of the Christmas Oratorio, disaster strikes: the sheet music disappears and a friend is kidnapped. The boys must stick together to save the day. In the process, they uncover an old manuscript – Das fliegende Klassenzimmer – and decide to stage it. Unaware of the play′s author and what it means to their favourite teacher Justus, the kids unwittingly trigger a turbulent chain of events.
