Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn, feast and sing with twelve men from the world famous Georgian state ensemble, Rustavi. With a workshop of beautiful polyphonic songs followed by a bring and share supra meal, this will be a truly special night.TIMINGS
Workshop 18.00 - 19.30, followed by supra until around 22.00
WORKSHOP
All songs will be taught by ear, with no need to read music, be an experienced singer, or to know the Georgian language. And you won't be asked to sing any solos! In this workshop we will learn songs which we can sing together at the supra table.
SUPRA
A supra is a key part of Georgian culture, and a unique, intimate and authentic way to experience Georgian polyphony. It is a shared meal, at which a toastmaster or 'tamada' is elected. Food is served 'tapas' style across the tables so that each guest can help themselves from any dish as they wish during the course of the meal. Food may be eaten at any time, but wine is only drunk following a toast. Usually a song relating to the theme of the toast will be sung.
This will be a bring and share supra, so guests are requested to bring food to contribute. If you would like to prepare a dish according to a Georgian recipe, you can find inspiration here. But it is not essential that your food contribution is Georgian, or even home made.
Further detailed guidance and information will be provided to guests prior to the event.
CONCERT, 12 SEPTEMBER
