One of the most prolific women writers of the 19th century, George Sand (née Aurore Dupin) was also a fierce critic of patriarchal society. In this unconventional biopic, Michele Rosier weaves Sand’s controversial life story into an experimental interpolation of post-1968 leftist intellectual discourse. Starring Anne Wiazemsky in the titular role, George Qui? also features appearances by Bulle Ogier and Gilles Deleuze. Rosier, who was a fashion designer and journalist, only made a handful of films in her lifetime but her fiercely unique output is long overdue for rediscovery.
