About this Event
Where is it?
Lila Yoga is a beautiful, independently owned, community-led yoga studio in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh.
Who is it for?
This is a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible space for beginners as well as those with more experience. This class is specifically designed for fat, queer, and disabled folk who have traditionally felt sidelined in mainstream yoga spaces.
This class requires the ability to move from seated to standing with the support of a chair or props.
What do I mean by inclusive and accessible?
- Posture variations will be offered to suit all abilities, body sizes, and experience.
- Props will be provided to everyone and you will be invited to use them throughout class.
- Nothing will be mandatory; you will have autonomy and agency in how you participate.
- You will be invited to take up space, go at your own pace, and rest whenever you like.
- There will be no gender-specific language used and bathrooms are gender neutral.
- There will be no hands-on adjustments during class, all cues will be verbal.
- Ticket price is offered on a sliding scale for those who require financial flexibility.
- The venue is situated at ground level (access info at the bottom of page)
Who am I?
I am a queer, fat yoga teacher with six years of experience working with beginners, seniors, and people in bigger bodies. I also have undergone additional trauma-informed training.
What You Need To Know
Class will begin at 1:30 pm, late comers cannot be permitted as we use the studio to the rear so door will be locked.
We will start with a short grounding practice and some simple breathing exercises, moving through a gentle warm-up leading to a series of gentle Hatha yoga postures.
We will take our time moving into and out of each posture, using props and exploring different variations.
We will finish with a few restful restorative poses before the class ends at 3:00pm.
