Monthly reggae disco in North-East London. The night is named after sadly departed MC Earl Anthony Robinson, the voice behind classic deejay tunes such as "Drunken Master".For our June session we're happy to welcome not one, but two, brilliant guest selectors: PRINCESS NADENE (daughter of Dennis Brown!!!) and ANTONELLA (aka UK CORNER).
Princess Nadene is quite literally reggae royalty, as the daughter of the much-missed 'crown prince of reggae', Dennis Emmanuel Brown, a man who cut his first tune aged just 12 years old, for Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd, and going on to build a massively successful three decade career. Cited by Bob Marley as his favourite singer, and hugely influential on other vocalists, he is widely regarded as one of the great voices in the genre. This will be a special set of 100% Dennis Brown played on original vinyl, celebrating the legacy of a true icon of Jamaican music.
Antonella / Uk Corner is a writer, selector, and collector with a deep passion for reggae, soul, R&B, and hip hop. She has collaborated with several music magazines and, for many years, co-hosted the Soulxpochi & UK Corner podcast alongside Nukleo of NukleoSoulGang. Actively involved in the UK reggae scene, she is also dedicated to vinyl selection, performing in various venues across London. Every last Sunday of the month, she hosts The Sunday Reggae Bake at Forno alongside Peppino I and Doc Murdoc.
Come and listen to some of the greatest music ever made in a beautiful old school social club.
