About this Event
Here are the official links to purchase Day Tickets for the Newport Jazz Age Weekend! The theme for this year’s event is: “The Golden Age of Flight: Soar with us on the cool breezes of Newport!”. A 1920’s to 40’s outfit is suggested, but not required. Feel free to pair your outfit with our theme. Doors open on Saturday,10am at Founders Hall (218 Ruggles Ave). This 1889 mansion is the focus point of our immersive weekend experience. You can start setting up your picnic spot on the lawn and check out the surrounding scenery/mansions. Also at this time we will be giving out supplies for the GBVS Flyers - build-your-own paper airplane contest.
At 12pm the lawn party picnic officially starts. Live music is being provided by the Nouveau Jazz Band. We are excited to introduce this new hot jazz band and there’s plenty of room for dancing on the porch! Beginners are welcome and there will be a free dance lesson at 11:30pm. There will also be vintage lawn games set up for all to enjoy. Starting at 2:30pm will be the GBVS Flyers contest for all to watch. The audience will vote for the winners of each category! Before or after the lawn party, you are welcome to head into town to check out the "Summer Shindig" vintage show run by our partners at The Brighton Bazaar. From 6:30-9pm join us for a formal Black-Tie evening of dinner and dancing at the Newport Elks Mansion (141 Pelham Street). You can purchase tickets for either the lawn party, the dinner/dance, or both at the links below. The dinner will have a choice of chicken fricassee or baked scrod, plus salad, rolls, roasted potatoes, green beans, dessert, and a cash bar for drinks.
