Join us (in person or online) for a fascinating presentation by Robert Steelquist, board member of the Olympic Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society. Robert will present an overview of Garry oak’s natural history, its historic and present ranges, and the vital ecological benefits this species provides. He’ll also discuss Indigenous ecological management and the progress made in oak restoration on the Sequim Prairie, where over 2,000 oak seedlings were planted in cooperation with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. ?
Robert Steelquist is a photographer, writer, and author of 13 books on Pacific Northwest natural history, including The Northwest Coastal Explorer (Timber Press, 2016). With a career serving in state and federal environmental organizations like the National Park Service, NOAA, and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Robert brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to this important topic. He holds a Master of Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College.
