Garden to Fork: A teen cooking demonstration Kids will learn about vegetables grown in the garden and see how to cook them with a local chef — A UMES Extension's 4-H STEM event
About this Event

Children will learn about vegetables grown in the garden and how to cook them in this UMES Extension's 4-H STEM program. Each session will feature a chef from an Eastern Shore restaurant.

The class will consist of an educational portion and cooking demonstration. Participants will have the opportunity to taste the food prepared at the end of the session. The menu will be driven by what herbs and vegetables are freshly harvested that week.

The Sept. 23 session features a chef from Sugar Water at the Washington Inn in Princess Anne. This session will be held at the Richard Henson Center on the UMES campus.

This event runs from 6-8 p.m. and is for children ages 12-18. Those ages 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Preregistration is required. Space is limited; no walk-ups will be accepted. The event costs $5 per child, per session. An observing parent/guardian may register for free with the purchase a children's ticket. (At the time of purchase, be sure to complete the form that includes participants' names and any food allergies.)

This class is in collaboration with the UMES Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
