Join us for a joyful and creative morning outdoors as we celebrate Hazel—a beloved pet bird whose spirit inspired this whimsical fundraiser: Perch to Paradise. Set against the lush backdrop of the Heard-Craig Center’s historic garden, this special photography and painting event is open to both Art Club of McKinney members and non-members.
Come dressed in blue, white, or green—Hazel’s favorite colors—and wear a fun hat if you’d like! Stroll through charming photo scenes and select your favorite setting for a professional portrait taken by Sumeeth Mehta, Art Club member and talented lifestyle photographer known for capturing authentic, story-rich moments filled with color and heart.
Bring a friend or family member to join in the fun—or come solo and have a beautiful portrait taken in one of the garden’s thoughtfully styled photo backdrops. Your photo(s) will be delivered digitally after the event.

Are you an artist who enjoys painting outdoors? Sign up to paint en plein air in the garden during the event and be photographed in action by Sumeeth. Paint the garden or select inspiration from photos provided that embody the theme of the event. These photos will be used to promote the Art Club of McKinney and the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts—highlighting the vibrant creativity that brings our community to life. Photo(s) will be delivered to you digitally after the event.
