About this Event
Join us for a course that explores gambling in the United States. Jody will cover understanding gambling, at-risk and problematic gambling, the current state of gambling in the US, sports betting research, and videos on gambling disorders in practice. We'll also review the DSM criteria for Gambling Disorders, compare SUD and Gambling Disorders, and review screens and assessments for treatment settings. Additionally, we will identify national and local resources for Problem Gambling Help. This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of gambling and its associated disorders, as well as insights into treatment and support resources.

Jody Bechtold, LCSW, ICGC, IGDC, PC, is a well-respected expert on gambling addiction who works with individuals, organizations, and associations worldwide. She is the CEO of The Better Institute, a group practice in Pittsburgh. Jody co-authored The Gambling Disorder Treatment Handbook and contributed to the Social Workers Desk Reference v4. She has spoken at TEDx and serves on the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board. Jody is an Advisory Board member for GamFin, Birches Health, and Seagulls Flock Organization (Philippines). She is also a National Council on Problem Gambling and the National Speakers Association member. Jody has conducted over 100 trainings, workshops, webinars, and keynote speeches on gambling disorders, mental health, and technology. She has presented and taught internationally, including in Italy, England, Mauritius, and the Philippines.
