What is this? An exhibition. About what? Gaberbocchus Press. Gaba-whit?
Gaberbocchus Press was a small publishing house, based in London from 1948 - 1979. It was run by Polish artists (and married couple) Franciszka and Stefan Themerson. They published over 60 titles, many of which were written by Stefan and illustrated by Franciszka. From poetry, philosophy, children's books and opera, these books are united by their bold, experimental and humorous approach.
This exhibition showcases books from the Mitchell Library's collections , on view throughout April 2026.
