Price: £1275 per person, based on two people sharing a double or twin room (single supplement of £213 is currently available).
Included: Flights between LHR and KEF with Icelandair, transfers between hotel and airport, 5 nights’ accommodation at FH Raudara Hotel in Reykjavik (on Bed & Breakfast basis), transport by coach to the localities, admission to the Lava Centre at Hvollsvollur, geological guidance of geologists Lyudmyla Bartkova and Alan Clewlow.
Not included: lunches, dinners, travel insurance.
The trip will include many geological attractions, natural wonders and historic sites in the South of Iceland. Among others, we will be visiting a popular Golden Circle (The Þingvellir National Park and Rift Valley, waterfall Gullfoss, and The Great Geyser geothermal hot spring area); Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach renowned for its towering basalt columns, located along the cliffs of Reynisfall mountain; Sólheimajökull glacier; Lava Centre - high-tech educational exhibition about the volcanic activities in Iceland as well as earthquakes and the continues creation of Iceland over millions of years; The Krýsuvík Geothermal Area with its mud pots, hot springs, steaming vents, and multi-coloured mineral deposits; the Blue Lagoon (for a short stop to look at milky blue water with a high silica content), and many other geological attractions. Two geology guides (the GA members) will be there for you to discuss various tectonic, geomorphological, structural, volcanic and geothermal process and features during the trip.
