On Saturday, September 20 at 3 pm at the Lyme Art Association, photographer G. Roger Clements is presenting a talk on his portrait photography. He will share a variety of his photos, his inspirations and what he aims to capture and convey through this photography about the nature of people and their relationship to their enviroments.
About the Artist: Roger Clements is a photographer and an architectural designer who has run his own Fairfield County-based building design and drafting business, Sasqua Associates LLC, for the past 35 years. A graduate of Knox College in Illinois with a BA in Etching & Graphics and a minor in French, he studied at the University of Besançon in France, and took design classes at Harvard with Jeremiah Eck and Robert A.M. Stern. Though Roger worked various jobs over the years, he segued back to the Arts via teaching Art and Architecture at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, CT. Then in 1985, Roger started his own design firm and continued to explore his art.
Some years ago, Roger had a stroke, which made it difficult to read, so now he spends his time making visual work and photographing architectural structures and people. Additionally, he has produced two books of photography on architecture and transportation. Roger has also reconnected with his previous love of analog film and joined it together with his 3D architectural maquettes, which are a blend of cardboard, illustration, canvas, oil paint, and wood.
Roger has shown his work in Westport, New York, and Boston, as well as Lyme, Old Lyme, and New London, CT. Roger currently lives, photographs, and draws in New London, Connecticut, but travels to the Fairfield area once a week to work in the architectural world.
