Class Overview: Getting Started with Fruit Trees is a hands-on class focused on the fundamentals of successfully planning, planting, and caring for fruit trees. Participants will learn how to choose the right varieties for their area, understand hardiness zones and chill hours, select an ideal planting site, and properly prepare soil for long-term success. The class will also cover rootstock selection, basic pruning strategies to keep trees small and productive, and key steps to encourage healthy growth and earlier fruiting.
Outcome: Each participant will leave with the foundational knowledge and practical confidence to plant and care for their first fruit tree successfully.
About the Instructor: Josh Gardens is a fruit tree educator and content creator known online as @theplanttechie. With over a decade of hands-on experience growing fruit trees, Josh shares practical, beginner-friendly strategies to help others avoid common mistakes and grow food successfully at home.
