About this Event
If you’ve ever felt triggered by something small in a relationship, you’re not alone.
In relationships, it’s easy to get pulled into patterns of reactivity, accusation, or defensiveness, especially when something feels uncertain or out of our control. From Triggers to Trust offers a different way forward.
Grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), more commonly known as Parts Work, this 3-part workshop series helps you understand the deeper patterns behind your reactions and learn how to relate in more grounded, connected ways. You’ll begin to recognize the parts of you that get triggered, understand what they’re protecting, and practice responding with more curiosity, openness, and clarity.
Through guided exercises, reflection, and discussion, you’ll leave with practical tools to:
- understand your triggers
- respond instead of react
- build more connected, Self-led relationships
Led by Scott Doniger, a Boulder-based chronic stress counselor and facilitator, this series draws on Parts Work to help you stay grounded, self-led, and connected in your relationships.
Workshop Breakdown
Part I (5/5): Foundations of Intimacy, Relationships, and Parts Work
Build a foundation for understanding how and why we get triggered in relationships. You’ll be introduced to Parts Work and begin recognizing the patterns—reactivity, accusation, defensiveness—that can take over in moments of stress or uncertainty.
Takeaway: “I can recognize my reactions without being run by them.”
Part II (5/12): Integrating Parts Work into the Storm of Relationships
Learn how to apply Parts Work in the midst of real relationship dynamics—when things feel overwhelming, reactive, or emotionally charged. You’ll practice staying grounded and begin shifting from defensiveness toward curiosity and openness.
Takeaway: “I can stay present and respond with more curiosity, even in difficult moments.”
Part III (5/19): New Skills, New Relationships — The U-Turn + Courageous Conversations
Develop practical tools for creating new patterns in your relationships. You’ll explore how to communicate from a more grounded place, navigate difficult conversations, and build connection without losing yourself.
Takeaway: “I can bring a more grounded, connected version of myself into my relationships.”
Each workshop can be attended on its own, while also building toward deeper clarity and connection when experienced as a series.
