Presentation details: For more than a decade, Mary has led annual all-women ski mountaineering expeditions into Alaska’s remote, glaciated mountains, including attempts of Mt. Hayes and Mt. Foraker, first ascents in the Wrangell–St. Elias, and first-ascent attempts on the Stikine Icefield. Moving through storms, glaciers, and high-stakes terrain has reshaped her understanding of strength, leadership, and success.
Drawing on stories from Alaska’s wildest ranges, this talk explores trust, shared leadership, and emotional intelligence in high-consequence environments. These expeditions revealed that kindness is not weakness, listening is active leadership, and vulnerability is essential. When every voice is heard and care is built into decision-making, teams move with clarity, resilience, and quiet confidence—measured not only in summits, but in connection and the courage to face the unknown together.
