About this Event

About this conference

Neighbourhood mental health centres operating around the clock represent one of the most significant shifts in community psychiatric care in a generation. Birmingham has been at the forefront of this transformation. This conference brings together senior clinicians, service leaders and commissioners to examine the evidence, hear directly from practitioners leading the Birmingham model, and explore what sustainable 24/7 provision requires — organisationally, clinically, and culturally.

The future of mental health services across the UK will be defined by decisions taken now. This is a conversation for those who intend to shape it. Places are limited — do not miss your opportunity to attend.

What to expect on the day

A structured full-day programme across three themes — system change, practice and culture, and clinical leadership — with keynote presentations, case study sessions, and a closing panel discussion open to questions from the floor. The day is designed to be clinically grounded and implementation-focused, not a policy overview.

A full hot lunch is included in the delegate fee, with refreshment breaks mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

  • Prof Tim Kendall CBE - NHS England National Mental Health Clinical Lead, New Models of Care
  • Dr Roberto Mezzina - Chair, International Mental Health Collaborating Network; VP, World Federation for Mental Health; co-architect of the Trieste model, recognised by the WHO as a global exemplar
