Join AJU Open for a personal exploration of the Arab Jewish experience, as Jacqueline Semha Gmach shares her journey from birth in Tunis, Tunisia, to resettlement in San Diego. This class will delve into key moments of Arab Jewish history and culture, touching on Jackie’s life in North Africa, encounters with antisemitism in Europe, and how Jewish communities across Israel, France, and the U.S. responded to the 850,000 Jewish Arab refugees.
