About this Event
Oxford Technology & Media are delighted to welcome Pete and Tim Gardom from This Great Adventure who were the creators of the groundbreaking dinosaurs exhibit created at the National History Museum in 1993, which changed the entire lens through which prehistoric history was viewed.
More than 30 years and 70 million visitors later, the Dinosaur exhibit has become the most successful in the Natural History Museum’s history.
The technology world has exploded since then with the internet, wireless networks, smartphones, augmented and virtual reality providing amazing platforms for interactive development.
Pete & Tim will discuss the history and impact of the original Dinosaur project and where it led in later museum development. They will explore key questions such as:
What are Narrative Environments? What happens when Narrative Practice meets Narrative Technologies? How do place, shape and purpose interact with storytelling? What stories are truly worth telling? H ow do you get stakeholder buy in? How do you decide what technologies to use? And how do you make a business case for a project?
Peter will illustrate his narrative with current This Great Adventure projects such as OPUS: The Next Stage and work at the brand new Oman Botanic Garden.
