A timely lecture and panel on anti-discriminatory safeguarding and care planning for children from minoritised and racialised communities.
About this Event

One year on from the "It's Silent" report on race, racism and safeguarding children, how have we progressed?

Join Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB) for a timely lecture and panel on anti-discriminatory safeguarding and care planning for children from minoritised and racialised communities.

Strengthening cultural competency in social work is an increasing priority for leaders in our profession, but what does it look like in practice?

Speakers:

  • National Kinship Care Ambassador and author of the "It's Silent" report, Jahnine Davis
  • Head of International Family Justice, Lord Justice Moylan
  • CFAB Expert by Experience, TBA

A child’s race, ethnicity, and culture affect the way they move through the social care system. Our panel will share their expertise on addressing unconscious bias, promoting equitable care planning, and ensuring social work practices promote the well-being of every child.

Our dynamic panel of experts includes Sir Andrew Moylan, Head of International Family Justice for England and Wales; Michael Nwoye, dual-qualified Social Worker in Nigeria and England and a member of the CFAB Experts by Experience Group.

Together, we will explore how to accelerate learning and improve outcomes for children with diverse backgrounds and family connections overseas.

This is an essential learning session for all professionals working with children and families from minoritised communities. Tickets are limited, book now to avoid disappointment.

This is an in-person event with a small number of online spaces for guests based further afield in the North, Scotland, and Wales. If you are based in these areas and would like to attend, please complete an online registration: Local colleagues are encouraged to join us in person at our wonderful venue and enjoy the networking opportunities and refreshments provided.
