About this Event
Join Ramblings of a Sikh for a special live podcast with Professor Eleanor Nesbitt and Dr Radha Kapuria.
Two of the most important voices in Sikh and Punjabi studies.
One who has shaped how Sikhi is understood, taught and studied in Britain for decades, and another who has uncovered a forgotten world of courtesans, bards, and classical music in colonial Punjab.
Professor Eleanor Nesbitt, author of Sikh: Two Centuries of Western Women's Art and Writing and the bestselling Sikhism: A Very Short Introduction, and Dr Radha Kapuria, author of Music in Colonial Punjab: Courtesans, Bards, and Connoisseurs, join us on stage for one night only.
Between them, they cover over two hundred years of Punjab's cultural, religious and social history, from the Lahore darbar of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to the lived experiences of Sikh communities in modern Britain.
What to expect:
- A live podcast with Ramblings of a Sikh — 45 minutes of conversation with both authors, delving into the ideas and questions behind their work
- An audience Q&A where you can put your questions directly to them
- Time to purchase books and have them signed
- Delicious refreshments, including samoseh
Expect an evening of powerful ideas, stories often left untold, great food, and the chance to hear two leading scholars in person.
Seats are limited — secure yours early.
No parking available at the venue but paid parking available nearby.
