WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
We gather at a venue and bring our own books to read, unlike other book clubs there is no set reading list and we get together to quietly read as a group for an hour. Our meetings are ideal if your social battery is low but you’d still like some quiet company as there is no pressure to socialise (unless you’d like to).
We are invited to gather together at the lovely Riverside Walkway cafe right on the riverfront. If you’re an animal lover, this meeting is totally for you with lots of horses, donkeys, alpacas and sheep to coo over.
Dogs are welcome to join us if you wanted to bring them along. In fact, my mate Amber recommends the “dog sausage” from the dog menu as a gourmet treat. She walloped it down! (She’s a dog just in case you think she sounds odd).
The café offers lots of hot food - jacket potatoes and toasties, sandwiches also a range of delish speciality coffees, hot and cold drinks or even a cream scone.
The 55 bus will drop you off at the crossroads from Hull interchange and then it’s just a walk down to the end of Church Road. OR if you get the train from Hull or Hessle it’s only a few quid and you’ll be there in minutes then it’s 5 min walk from Ferriby station.
MEETING DISCLAIMER
All our venues are open to the paying public when meetings take place so this may mean other customers may be taking up seats or -horror of horrors- making noise! This is something out of our control and most likely will not affect your experience too much.
Please be aware when you attend any of our meetings seating is on a ‘first come, first served” basis and there’s a chance there may not be any available seats for you. Every effort will be made to make sure everyone can join in where possible and it’s unlikely to happen but only fair to point out.
