For People Searching for Community to Navigate Life meets Career Transitions
About this Event

The world of work is changing. Ambitious trailblazers are abandoning the rungs of the career ladder to shape their own ‘squiggly career’ paths (Tupper & Ellis 2020). The squiggly path blends purpose, passion, play, and people fluidly. The squiggly path is like a river, the route is navigable, but the journey of developing experience, skills, and communities of learning & support is circuitously influenced by the tides of life.

This brings freedom and challenge. How do you break free from a mindset that tells you to stick to the safety of the career ladder? If you’re a solo-enterpreneur, how do you transform passion into income, consistently and sustainably? If you’re chartering a different course inside an organisation, how do you make next step decisions that align with your values and convince others to give you some leeway? If you’re new to being the captain of your squiggly career, how do you manage stepping into a new comfort zone? And, perhaps most importantly, how do you go about finding a crew of explorers so you can better navigate choppy waters together?

If this sounds like you, please mark your diary and help shape our new ‘squiggly careers’ group within Together Culture.  Our first event is Friday 15 November from 8.30am - 10.00am.

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

  • To meet people at different stages of their careers
  • To meet people who work in fields as diverse as finance and art therapy
  • To learn from the stories of people who have been navigating squiggly careers for some time
  • To participate in playful activities that explore new ideas as facilitated by John Monks and Heather Thomas; Together Culture Members, experienced facilitators, and squiggly career-ites themselves.
  • To feel safe to take off your sales armor and just be yourself.
  • To join in the conversation or listen and absorb. Both are contributions.
  • And hopefully, to want to come back again and again. We’re planning a four part series for 2025!
