Organist Cameron Khan and soprano Willow Swidler Notte, directors of the Philadelphia-based early music ensemble Le Parnasse, are joined by viola da gambist Gretchen Gettes and DC-based soprano Willow Pedersen for a performance of François Couperin's Leçons de ténèbres, written in 1713. A masterpiece of sacred music, Couperin's setting of the Tenebrae (Holy Week Vigil) service for Holy Wednesday is an emotional and transcendent meditation on the Old Testament Book of Jeremiah.
Equally captivating today as it was three hundred years ago, we are eager to share this glorious work with you, in partnership with St. Mary's!
