The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus is proud to present “Freedom Unfinished: From Reckoning to Joy”, a vibrant musical journey exploring the many meanings of freedom, where it has been promised, how it has been challenged, and how it continues to evolve.Bringing together choral works written seven decades apart, this program places Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom (1943) alongside Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words of the Unarmed (2015), creating a powerful dialogue across time about who freedom has reached and who is still reaching for it.
Blending classical choral music with gospel, dance, and iconic songs like “Rise Up,” Beyoncé’s “Freedom,” George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90,” and “Dog Days of Summer” this concert is both reflection and celebration, honoring joy, resilience, and the freedom found in being fully ourselves.
This year’s Spring Concert takes place on Friday May 15th at 8PM and Saturday May 16th at 4PM at First Austin. Tickets are on sale now at bit.ly/agmc-tix and in our bio - grab your tickets early and join us for this powerful and moving event!
This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department
