The Forest Preserves of Cook County is hosting the FOURTH "JUNETEENTH FREEDOM (BIKE) RIDE"open to all on June 19th, 2026
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Meeting & starting at Dan Ryan Woods Visitor's Center- parking lot. (87th & Western Ave.)
We will be riding on the Major Taylor Trail to Whistler Woods and back (16 miles RT) with stops along the way to Celebrate Major Taylor's Legacy.
There will be an opportunity to do HALF of the ride (2 or 4 miles RT) with a turnaround in the Beverly community. A FPCC guide will escort you back to DRW.
Free helmets for folks without one (limited supply).
Free bike swag and refreshments for all participants.
The trail is paved!
We will go over Bike "Rules of the Road" and group ride safety before we leave.
Due to the distance, riding in some bike lanes across traffic, children 10+ with an adult only.
Please know your fitness and riding abilities. There will be only one mid-ride turnaround location (Longwood & 113th).
