Allyh Wu (Baritone) & Louis Moison

Australian baritone Allyn Wu, currently based in London, is a dynamic and versatile performer with a deep passion for a wide range of musical styles. Now in his first year of postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music, he is a scholarship holder studying with Marcus van den Akker, Raymond Connell, and Chad Vindin.

An experienced oratorio soloist, Allyn has a particular interest in historical performance, especially French and English Restoration repertoire. He regularly performs with the Academy Baroque Soloists as part of the Bach in Leipzig and Resounding Shores series, collaborating with leading conductors including MasaakiSuzuki, Dame Jane Glover, John Butt, Eamonn Dougan, Elizabeth Kenny, and Peter Whelan. His extensive concert repertoire includes Ein deutsches Requiem (Brahms), Messiah and Dettingen Te Deum (Handel), Requiem (Mozart), Nelson Mass (Haydn), Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Magnificat (C.P.E. Bach), and the major sacred works of J.S. Bach, including the St John Passion, St Matthew Passion, St Luke Passion, Christmas Oratorio, B Minor Mass, and over half of the extant cantatas.

His operatic repertoire spans early music through to contemporary works. A recent highlight includes his sold-out appearance as Winter and Hymen in The Fairy Queen (Purcell) with Hampstead Garden Opera, which earned him an Offie Award nomination. He made his operatic debut in the Royal Academy Opera’s Opera Triple Bill under Ryan Wigglesworth, and has since appeared in productions of The Rake’s Progress (Stravinsky) with Trevor Pinnock, The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) with Alice Farnham, La Cenerentola (Rossini) with Jonathan Darbourne, and Der fliegende Holländer (Wagner) at the Endellion Festival with Anthony Negus. Other notable roles include Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), and a commanding Apollo in Handel’s Apollo e Dafne. He is also active in contemporary opera, performing roles such as Jackson in Sarah Marze’s The District and appearing in George Parris’s When the Sky Cracks Open at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival.

A committed recitalist, Allyn has performed at venues across London, including the Academy Voices series at the Italian Cultural Institute and the Royal Academy Piano Festival. He will soon appear at Bob Boas House in a recital of works by Johannes Brahms, Robert and Clara Schumann, curated by Lieder specialist Richard Stokes. Beyond his solo engagements, Allyn is an active choral singer, performing with leading ensembles such as The Sixteen, Academy of Ancient Music, and Oxford Bach Soloists. He is also in demand as a choral deputy across London, with regular engagements at Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Westminster Cathedral.

Alongside his vocal studies, Allyn is developing his skills in choral conducting under Nicholas Chalmers, and continues to enrich his artistic practice through masterclasses and workshops with Dame Emma Kirkby, Nicky Spence, Mark Padmore, and Iestyn Davies.

Allyn is generously supported by the London Women’s Clinic Foundation Award and the Josephine Baker Trust, enabling his continued pursuit of excellence in vocal performance and musical scholarship.
