About this Event
Join us for a free, six-hour hands-on workshop exploring CNC machining using the Open Lab Starter Kit Small CNC v2! This session is perfect for beginners and hobbyists looking to understand the fundamentals of CNC operations and machining techniques.
You’ll work with a compact CNC machine equipped with a Nema 24 closed-loop stepper motor, a Mafell spindle, and a cutting area of 600x400x140mm. During the workshop, you’ll learn to precisely cut materials like aluminum and brass, utilizing ball screws and linear guides on all axes for smooth, high-precision operations.
By the end of the session, you'll have successfully milled a series of parts to take home, gaining practical knowledge of CNC machining with confidence.
Learning outcome
During the workshop you will learn how to:
- Create a CNC-G-Code with , and transfer it to the CNC machine
- Use the control software
- Operate the OLSK CNC machine safely
Completing this workshop, with the corresponding membership, will grant you the possibility to use the OLSK CNC milling machine at MotionLab.Berlin.
Prerequisites
- For this course you can bring:
- A laptop with pre installed open source software Univeral Gcode Sender(Download a free-trial version of the software here:)
- A mouse with a scroll wheel.
