2026 Artist-In-Residence Katya Moeller will perform a series of dazzling recitals across southeast Iowa during her residency in the spring of 2026. These community recitals offer a unique opportunity to meet the soloist and hear new works that will not be presented at our masterworks concerts. This is also a great opportunity for students, particularly string players or those exploring instrument choices in school, to talk one on one with Katya.
These recitals are free and open to the public.
"Katya lives in New York City pursuing her Bachelor of Music Degree in violin performance at the Juilliard School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Masao Kawasaki. She started violin lessons at the age of four at the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City with Christie Felsing and studied with the legendary Professor Almita Vamos in Chicago from the age of eight.
She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Bargemusic, and alongside New York Philharmonic members in David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center in New York City. She was called a “phenomenal instrumentalist” and praised for her “fresh, committed playing, always powerful and concentrated”, “dramatic and convincing performances”, and “exquisite interpretations” by Fanfare Magazine." - https://www.avitaduo.com/about
