This is a friendly and accessible class where the RVCC director of 39 years, Ms. Kimberly Davidson, will teach about healthy singing techniques, proper breathing, vowel sounds, and vocal warm ups. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about music, try something new, and get to know more about the RVCC choir program to see if it is something you would like to join next year!

ABOUT THE CHOIR: Founded in 1987, the Roanoke Valley Children's Choir is a non-profit, pre-professional, community choir program for ages 6-18. Rehearsals are once a week on Mondays from September-April each year. There are no auditions for rising 1st-9th grade students to join the Elementary or Youth Choirs. Singing in the choir is fun and beginner friendly for all! We strive to teach young musicians how to work together and pursue excellence. Most importantly, we provide a place where lasting friendships grow, musical expression blossoms, and choir can become like family.
WHAT WE TEACH: As a member of this full-year choral program, each child learns all the foundational elements needed to grow a life-long love of music. Musical skills taught include note reading, music theory, foreign languages, coordination skills, and proper vocal techniques. As each student develops their musical skills in the choir program they are also learning important developmental and character qualities that will stay with them throughout life including confidence, focus, determination, perseverance, executive functioning, organization, leadership, teamwork, creativity, & personal expression.
